"Yogic Stretching" ~ In February 2015 I completed the first part of the Lotus Palm Level I Thai Yoga Massage program. However, because I am not registered as a massage therapist in NY state, I cannot call this a massage. As a yoga teacher I can call it yogic stretching, or energy-work as a Reiki practitioner; both terms begin to describe the effects of these techniques, which are like passive yoga poses that stretch and compress the physical body, and help to move and circulate energy. You'll have to experience it to know for yourself!

Energy-Balance ~ Reiki
As my teacher
Darcy Skye
puts it, "Reiki is a gentle hands-on-healing modality centered around channeling universal life force energy in the form of love." It can be practiced without touching the body or the skin, and even from a distance. When stress and emotions throw you off-kilter, Reiki treatments can help bring balance back to the subtle energetic layer of your body, thereby helping you feel calmer, lighter, or more grounded.

Energy-Balance ~ Chakras
The chakras are energy centers in the body; there are seven major chakra that live along the spine, spinning like wheels to take in our sensory experience and to churn out our mental, emotional, and physical responses. Each chakra is associated with a different endocrine gland, and an aspect of our psyche (the major chakras are often compared to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs). When a chakra is off-balance, it can make us feel mentally disturbed or physically unwell, and can affect the other chakras as well. Using methods such as meditation and visualization, chanting and breathing, we can access our chakras and help restore them to their natural, balanced state.


Ayurvedic Nutritional Consultation ~ In Sanskrit, 'ayurveda' translates as "knowledge of longevity" and is also known as the "science of life". The same sages who brought us yoga were aware that the whole self needs to be healthy if one is to lead a good life and reach enlightenment -- indeed, it takes strength to sit in meditation for hours at a time! But even for those of us not seeking this ultimate samadhi, we all benefit from a clearer understanding of what supports our well-being, and what leads us into dis-ease.
